Director Jamie Moffett was interviewed recently by Metro-International before leaving for the screening of his film Return to El Salvador in Canadian parliament. He spoke candidly about his self-professed agnosticism, but also about his beginnings as a founding member of the Christian community outreach group the simple way, based in Kensington. That was back in 1998, and since then he has made a documentary called The Ordinary Radicals based on that experience, and started his own commercial company, Jamie Moffett Media Design and Production. While the company is for-profit, his projects certainly don't seem to be based on profit over principle. That is not to say his films are by any means without decent production values. They did manage to get actor Martin Sheen to narrate for Return to El Salvador.
“My intention has always been to be a sheep in wolf’s clothing,” he says. “We’re trying to sell compelling narratives and market them in a way that we can give money to the organizations we’re inspired by.”
